Rare and unique! Reference made by the great Gaon Rabbi Meir Shapiro of Lublin to his holy Rav Rabbi Yisroel of Chortkov in a letter he sent to the activist Rabbi Eliezer Sirkis, one of the leaders of Agudas Yisroel in Poland, 1928.

A letter sent by the great Gaon Rabbi Meir Shapiro of Lublin, the founder of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin and of the Daf Yomi, to the important activist Rabbi Eliezer Sirkis, thanking him for his generosity to the Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin which was being built in those years. He notes several places and cities which had sent money for the yeshiva.

In the second part of the letter, he takes interest in the well-being of his father Rabbi Shlomo Sirkis, an important Ger Chassid in Zgieriz. The Gaon Rabbi Meir Shapiro informs that he had delivered the Pidyon Nefesh, the Kvitl, that he sent to the holy Rav Rabbi Yisroel of Chortkov, the Rav of the Gaon Rabbi Meir Shapiro and that immediately when the name of the city 'Zgierz' was mentioned, the Rav said that surely the Kvitl came from Rabbi Shlomo and then added: I knew him. I knew him. And what is his situation now. May Hasehm Yisborach bring him success in all matters, this being said even before reading the Kvitl.
