Binder of Issues of the Weekly Hashkafah Journal Edited by Ben Yehudah. Jerusalem, 1898

Binder of [19] issues of the second year of the journal Hashkafah edited by Eliezer Ben-Yehudah. Jerusalem, 1898 [אתתכ"ט לחרבן]. Bound together with issues of the journal HaIkar HaYehudi. Pedigree copy.

There is an interesting leaf after the Hashkafah issues entitled: "Supplement to Hashkafah issue 15 Year II." with an open letter to the gaon Rabbi Chaim of Brisk about the defamation of the Torat Chaim yeshivah, signed by Jerusalem rabbis led by Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld. It is interesting that zealous Jerusalem rabbis allowed their letter to be published in the newspaper of someone who was considered by them to be one who has left the path of Judaism.

Bookplate on the title page (somewhat torn) from Rabbi Yehudah Leib HaKohen Fishman's famous library. He lived 1876-1962 and was a signatory on the declaration of independence as well as the State of Israel's first minister of religion.

Hashkafah - weekly perspectives on Jewish matters in the Land of Israel and other countries, and current affairs.

HaIkar HaYehudi - special supplement to Hashkafah on agricultural topics, edited by local scholarly agriculturalists led by agriculturalist Menasheh Meirowitz.

Issues 1-19 (second year) of Hashkafah + [9] issues of HaIkar HaYehudi. 23.5 cm.

Fine condition. Fragile paper. Tiny tears. Hardcover binding.
