Saraf Pri Etz Chaim - Kabbalistic elucidations for the book [Pri] Etz Chaim and others from Kitvei HeAr"i by Rabbi Moshe b"r Dan Shoham, rabbi of Dolyna. Chernowitz, 1866. First edition. Pedigree copy.
First edition of the book by one of the Chassidic leaders of the first generation - the gaon Rabbi Moshe of Dolyna, who was born in 1730 to his father Rabbi Dan, who frequented the Ba'al Shem Tov's home. It is told that he was childless and the Ba'al Shem Tov blessed him with a righteous sacred son. From this blessing, Rabbi Moshe of Dolyna was born. Rabbi Moshe himself, like his father, became a follower of the Ba'al Shem Tov, and was one of the youngest of the latter's disciples. In his books, he cites Torah thoughts he heard from the Besh"t.
The book is adorned with many approbations of Chassidic leaders, the Admori"m of the Ruzhin dynasty; Rabbi Chaim Halberstam of Sanz; Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel of Apta; Rabbi Yechiel Michel of Zlotchov; and Rabbi Yosef Shaul Nathansohn.
Rabbi Meir Leifer's (of the Nadvorna-Temesher-Munkacs dynasty) owners' stamps along the leaves of the book. Rabbi Meir Leifer was born to his father, the Admo"r Rabbi Yissachar Ber Leifer, who lived in Ungvar (and was a son of Rabbi Yosef of Bursha). The Admo"r Rabbi Meir served as an Admo"r in his father's lifetime, alongside his two brothers who resided in Ungvar. He lived in Munkacs, and was killed in the Holocaust. There are also several undeciphered rabbinic owners' stamps on the last page.
This copy bears the errata at the end, as well as the subscriber leaves at the beginning. At the beginning of the subscribers is an impressive list of famous tzaddikim, followed by a list of hundreds of names divided by communities (this list is of historic importance). There are single copies known with an additional leaf of subscribers at the end of the book. Important and rare book.

Fine condition: Aging stains. Blemish in the margins of leaf 148 with damage to several words. Simple binding.
