AN ART NOUVEAU LITHOGRAPH AFTER FRITZ BURGER
An antique lithograph printed in colors on paper, depicting a three-quarter length portrait of a lady holding back a curtain, 1899, originally created by Fritz Burger, German, 1877 - 1916. Matted and framed. Fritz Burger is a German artist and art critic. Descended from the family of a Munich banker, studied architecture at the Higher Technical School. Then he attended a course in art history at the University of Heidelberg. In 1903 and 1907 received gold medals at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition. From 1912 he taught at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. At the beginning of the First World War, Burger volunteered for the front, from 1915 he served in the artillery. On May 22, 1916, the artist died in a battle near Verdun.Burger developed a theory about the subjectivity of the perception of art and wrote a systematic Guide to Art History.
