A RUSSIAN PENCIL PAINTING HEAD BY OLEG LIAGATCHEV
Oleg Alexandrovich Liagatchev (Russian, born 1939) pencil painting on paper, Kill the Crusader, depicts a metaphysical portrait of a man. Signed with initials lower left. Titled upper right. Framed. Provenance: The Sothebys, November 21, 2001, lot #152. Please refer to the original paper labels and inscriptions on the back. Oleg Alexandrovich Lyagachev is an artist, art critic and writer, an art theoretician, and a writer (under the pen name Helgi Lughin). From 1967 to 1979, he was a member of the Petersburg art group along with M. Chemiakin, E. Esaulenko, V. Ivanov, A. Vasilyev, and others. Liagatchev belongs to the generation of the sixties, a very important period in the cultural life of Russia. One of a kind artwork.
