AN ANTIQUE JAPANESE WOODBLOCK BY KEISAI EISEN
A Keisai Eisen (Japanese, 1790–1848) woodblock print, Act 2 from the kabuki version of Chushingura, the story of the revenge of the 47 ronin. Here a daimyo's old retainer expresses his support by slicing a branch from a miniature pine tree. Circa 1830. Dimensions: 15 3/8" x 9 7/8" in. All measurements are approximate.
