  • An exceptional portrait on canvas by the "Father of Jamaican Art"  Albert Huie (Jamaica 1910 - 2010), signed upper right, dated 1942, the first time to the market of this piece, it being sold by the family that commissioned the portrait in 1922. The painting depicts an orphan boy called Dorrel adopted by the family, our client has fond memories of Dorrel climbing trees to collect coconuts for her and a handwritten note of her recollections and providence of the piece is included in the sale. The family still owns the tobacco jar depicted.
