Letter Handwritten and Signed by the Rebbe Author of "Beit Aharon" of Karlin, to his Nephew, Rabbi Yisrael of Kobryn - Extremely Rare
A letter handwritten and signed by the Rebbe Rabbi Aharon Perlow of Karlin-Stolin, to his nephew "my relative … Yisrael". At the end of the letter, the Rebbe signs: "His uncle who sends his regards Aharon". No date.
The addressee is Rabbi Yisrael of Kobryn, the son of Rabbi Moshe Ber, the brother of the "Beit Aharon". Rabbi Yisrael was known for his piety. He immigrated to the Land of Israel and lived in Tiberius, where he is buried.
Year after year, before Passover, the Rebbe, the "Beit Aharon" used to write letters to his friends and relatives to encourage them to start with the preparations for the holiday. Some of these letters have been printed. The letter before us was also sent with such a letter of encouragement and the Rebbe asks: "the letter [on the reverse side of this page] should be read to all our friends and relatives" he wishes them that they celebrate "Chag Ha'Matzot happily and joyously".
On the reverse side of the letter it is written: "To the Kobryn community, to my dear friend … Mordechai".
The letter has been published in the past.
The Rebbe Rabbi Aharon of Karlin (1802-1872) was the fourth Rebbe of the Karlin Hassidic dynasty, the grandson of Rabbi Aharon of Karlin, the founder of the Karlin Hassidic dynasty. He was considered one of the greates Rebbe in Lithuania.
In the 45 years he was Rebbe, the Karlin Hassidism grew extensively. Complete towns joined the Hassidism and during the Jewish holidays, thousands used to visit his Hassidic court. He also supported the Hassidic settlement in the Land of Israel, which included also Karlin Hassidim. Among others, he acted to rebuild the synagogue of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vitebsk in Tiberius. His book "Beit Aharon" gathers the teachings of the Karlin Rebbes and is considered the basic book of the Karlin Hassidim.
Condition: Good. Folding marks (that was how the letter was sent by mail) and due to them tiny slits and tears. Stains.
