Polemic: Midbar Matana by Rabbi Matityahu Nissim Tarni. Single edition. Florence 1810, signature of Rabbi Natan Koronel.

Contains several works by Rabbi Matityahu Nissim Tarni of Italy, which were printed at different times and in different places. All begin with the word ‘Midbar.’ The collective name is Midbar Matanah, and the name of each work is printed at the top of the pages. Includes Midbar Yachil, Midbar Mishpat, Midbar Harim, Botzer BaMidbar, responses by Rabbi Tarni to writings against his earlier works. Only edition. Interesting item—in all copies the location of printing was burned and replaced with the handwritten “the Pamphlet Midbar Yachil was printed in the city of Florence.”

The title page has the signature of Rabbi Natan Koronel, a sage and kabbalist of Jerusalem. [1], 20, 31, 28, 16, 8 [1] leaves. Between the sections were (in the original printing) placed blank leaves.

Rabbi Natan Koronel (1810-1890) was a sage and kabbalist of Jerusalem, who glorified ancient books and wrote a number of books himself. He was one of the early zealots who opposed the Zionist movement and the idea of man-made geulah.
