A European school oil painting on relined canvas in 18th century style depicting a portrait of a couple, probably, the man is Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Inscribed on the back. The Gallant scene, Gallant holidays, is a genre in the fine and decorative arts of the 18th century, based on pastoral themes and the idealization of scenes from secular (in particular, court) life. The main feature of the Gallant genre is elegiac, lyrical, idyllic moods, light irony, and eroticism. One of a kind artwork.
