Rare Aviation / Airplane Ceramic Pitcher by Royal Doulton
Circa 1910 rare Aeronautical series. Jug depicts scenes from First International Air Race meeting at Rheims in 1909.
In the foreground are several historical aircrafts, including the Wright Model A, an early aircraft produced by the Wright Brothers beginning in 1906. The background includes a racecourse and stand which suggests the racecourse at Rheims where the meet was held. Most of the aircrafts (and hot air balloons) depicted are known to have flown at this event and competed for prizes donated by the Champagne industry. #aviation #airplane #aeronautical #ERAU
