RUSSIAN SOVIET FEDOSKINO FAIRY TALE LACQUER BOX
A Russian Soviet Fedoskino lidded black lacquered wooden box. The hinged lid is adorned with a hand painted scene from a Russian Fairy Tale, The Little Humpbacked Horse. Inscribed and dated lower left. Circa: 1980s. A red interior. Marked, made in USSR, and numbered on the bottom. A printed paper label, marked by Fedoskino Diploma Factory 1st Degree Miniature Painting. Fedoskino miniature is a folk craft, a type of Russian lacquer miniature painting with oil paints on papier mache, which developed at the end of the 18th century in the village of Fedoskino near Moscow.
