SAMUELSON PAUL: (1915-2009) American Economist. Nobel Prize in Economics, 1970. Widely considered the “Father of Modern Economics”. A curious and interesting Autograph note signed, `Paul A. Samuelson´, one page, 4to, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, August 1971, to Henri Corbiere. Samuelson responds beneath his correspondent´s four questions relating to his scientific debut and to his work and discoveries, and states `I was lucky. I got into something that was interesting and important, and that I was good at. It was downhill all the way´ The present statement was written by Samuelson the year after he was awarded with the Nobel Prize in Economics. VG
