During World War II, the Jewish settlement in Israel saw itself as an alley of the United Kingdom, Britain, in its war against the Nazis. One of the things the Yishuv did to help the war was to recruit boys and girls to the British army in order to help in the war. Many proclamations were published in order to encourage the recruitment.
It should be noted that during most of the years of the war, there was no clear information about the fate of the European Jews; only in 1943 did certain news on the subject arrive.
The proclamation before us was printed in February 1943 and is titled "Forbidden, Forbidden, Forbidden". It cites an article that was published in the 'Davar' newspaper (2/2/1943) about the many prohibitions the Jews of Europe suffered from. The publishers of the proclamation call the public to recruit to the army in order to help the British beat the Nazis. "Only victory in the war might cancel all these prohibitions".
