Letter written and signed by the Rav"d Warsaw - Rabbi Shlomo Dovid Kahana. Dated: 5th of Tammuz, 1951.
Halachic response regarding kashrut status of fish.
Rabbi Shlomo Dovid Kahana [1869-1953] was the rav"d of Warsaw. He was a disciple of Rabbi Chaim HaLevi Soloveitchik and the Netziv of Volozhin in the Volozhin yeshiva. He received semicha from Rabbi Yitzchak Elchonon Spector. He was very involved in freeing agunot after the First World War in his position as president of the "Central Bureau for helping agunot of the Aggudat HaRabbanim of Poland" together with Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinski. At the start of the 1940s, he fled to Palestine and settled in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem where he served as the Ashkenazi Rabbi until its fall in 1948.
