FLESSELLES JACQUES DE: (1730-1789) French Official. Last Provost of the merchants of Paris. Assassinated on the steps of the City Hall and decapitated on 14th July 1789. L.S., De Flesselles, one page, oblong 4to, Paris, 7th December 1760, to a clerk, in French. De Flesselles states `I have urgent matters to sort out, sir, and they will not permit me working on Wednesday evening at the Bastille….´ Accompanied by an antique engraving showing the scene of De Flesselles´ murder.
