Dvar HaShavua, an illustrated weekly newspaper - for Israel and the diaspora, the General Federation of Workers in the Land of Israel. Published by "Dvar", Tel Aviv, 1948, a complete yearly cycle - issues 1-52, January - December 1948. Bound together.
The issues contain an extensive review of the pivotal political events in the Jewish Yishuv: the War of the Independence, Declaration of Independence, immigration, articles about cultural and entertainment events, humor and sport columns and more. Accompanied by dozens of extremely important historical photographs from the war and daily life in the Jewish Yishuv during this fateful year.
Among the issues is an issue from 11 Iyar 5708 [May 20, 1948] (the first issue published after the Declaration of Independence) with the headline: "The Jewish State Arises!". The issue contains photographs from the ceremony of the declaration of independence, a quote from the Declaration of Independence, and related articles.
