An important letter from the Rebbe of Slonim Rabbi Avraham Weinberg regarding the kashrut arrangements in the IDF - dated 29 Av 5708 [1948] - signed with his handwritten signature.

The letter is addressed to Rabbi Shmuel Shadrevsky - the chairman of Agudat Yisrael in Tel  Aviv, with his appointment as director of the kashrut department of the IDF in 1948: "I was very happy that with the help of God this responsible and important position was given to such an appropriate person as his honor, the main goal in this work is to improve the state of the kashrut of the Israeli army as much as possible." Further in the letter the Rebbe advises him to visit every army base in the country in order to get to know the state of the kashrut of the kitchens from up close, and briefly describes the state of the kashrut in the city of Tiberius: "Until recently there was one army kitchen for the entire city which was managed by a faithful Jew, and it is with great satisfaction that I state that the aforementioned kitchen was and is of a high level of state of kashrut...". His handwritten signature in the letter's margins.

The Rebbe Rabbi Avraham Weinberg of Slonim [1888-1981], the third Rebbe of Slonim, son of the Rebbe Rabbi Noach Weinberg, served as a member of the Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah of Agudat Yisrael, one of the heads of chassidut in the city of Tiberius.
