Public Appeal by the Supervisors of the Kasov Kollel in the Land of Israel to the Diaspora
Public appeal by the supervisors of the Kasov Kollel in the Land of Israel to the Diaspora, written in Safed in the month of Nissan 1925.
Scribal handwriting in Hebrew and Yiddish in facing columns.
Signed by two of the supervisors of the Kollel and with the stamp of the Kollel. At the bottom of the leaf are approvals and recommendations in the handwriting and with the signatures of Rabbi Avraham Leib Zilberman, Av Beit Din of Safed and successor of the rabbis of the Zilberman dynasty as the emissary of the Admor of Boyan to light the bonfire on the roof of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai's grave on Lag B'Omer. As well, the handwriting and signature of the Kabbalist Rabbi Zion HaCohen son of the Kabbalist Rabbi Yechezkel HaCohen.
The supervisors of the Kollel regretfully inform the donors abroad: "That no support whatsoever from the proceeds of the fundraisers of 'Keren Kayemet', 'Keren HaYesod' and 'Keren HaTorah' reaches the charedi poor people." They beg them: "The voices of the souls of your downtrodden brethren... who are starving, call out to you for help in their time of need and to have mercy on them," and request that each of them take the charity box of Rabbi Meir Ba'al HaNes to his house, and donate a few 'grushen' each day for his impoverished brothers in the holy cities.
[1] large paper leaf. 29x46 cm.
The handwriting is legible and clear, folding marks, aging stains and tiny tears.
Condition: Fine-very fine.
