Torah thoughts in the hand of Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv
Torah thoughts in the hand of HaGaon HaRav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv.
Halachic back and forth regarding wine whose taste and smell are discernible in regards to kiddush, wine suitable for havdala, and if ale can be used for havdala. Rabbi Elyashiv discusses the ideas writen by the Rishonim and leading Achronim - Rabbi Akiva Eiger, Magen Avraham and the Tashbetz.
Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv [1910-2012] was born in Šiauliai, Lithuania. He was an only child, born to his parents after seventeen years of marriage. In 1924, he immigrated with his family to Eretz Yisrael and settled in the Meah Shearim neighborhood of Jeruslaem. He served as dayan on the Beit Din HaGadol HaRabbani and was primarily renowned for the tremenodus diligence he displayed throughout his life. He was the leading halachic decider of the generation.
