Sha'arei Tzeddek – Jerusalem 1864 – the Copy of Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger, with an Important Halachci Gloss in his Handwriting – A Special Edition of the Book
Sha'arei Tzeddek. By Rabbi Avraham Danzig. Special second edition. Printed in Jerusalem in 1864 by the printing press of the partners Reb Yechiel Brill, Reb Michel Ha'Cohen and Rabbi Yoel Moshe Solomon (S. Ha'Levi 104).
An important book clarifying "the laws applicable in the Land of Israel today". The first edition was printed in Vilnius by the author himself. The second edition before us was printed "for the benefit of our brothers who live in the Land of Israel". The edition before us is actually a realization of the author's vision that the residents of the Land of Israel will follow his halachic rulings.
Prepared for printing by Rabbi Yehoshua Yellin of Lomza. He printed the book for the ascent of his father's soul. On the title page of the book, Rabbi Yehoshua Yellin explains the necessity of printing the book for the benefit of "the workers of God's land, to know the laws applicable in the Land of Israel".
On the title page of the book, the special stamps of Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger, which depict an illustration of the Western Wall with the inscription of "Akiva Yehosef ben Yechiel" around it.
At the beginning of the book, approbations of two of the geniuses of Jerusalem: Rabbi Moshe Yehuda Leib Zilberberg and Rabbi Meir Auerbach.
The Halachic gloss
Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger added a gloss in his handwriting referring to the author's halachic ruling on leaf 26 regarding the burning of fruit of the Shemitah. Rabbi Schlesinger comments on the halachic problem of burning the fruit of the Shemitah.
On leaf A, a correction of a printing error in Rabbi Schlesinger's handwriting.
