Letter from Rabbi Shlomo Brevda to his Brother-in-Law Rabbi Efraim Greenblatt. 1967
Letter written and signed by Rabbi Shlomo Leib Brevda. The letter is addressed to his brother-in-law, Rabbi Efraim Greenblatt, author of Shu"t Rivavot Efraim. He discusses a heart attack that he suffered, and his children, dated: 1st day of selichot, 1967.
"I had a strong attack a few weeks after the surgery and was taken to the hospital by ambulance and they did tests and x-rays ... the attack lasted nine hours and weakened me until today, therefore it is very hard for me to exert myself, particularly in writing letters ... the children are learning in "cheder" and the little girls, at home with Leah ..."
Rabbi Shlomo Leib Brevda [1931-2013] was a prominent mussar personality in our generation. He studied in the Lakewood and Mir yeshivas. When he moved to Israel, he began focusing on the Vilan Gaon's Torah and lectured on this subject. He authored a number of works, including Amala shel Torah. Starting in 1988, he divided his time between the United States and Bnei Brak.
Rabbi Efraim Greenblatt (1932-2014) was a halachic adjudicator and author of Shu"t Rivavot Efraim. He was a prominent posek of this generation and a close disciple of Rabbi Moshe Feinstein.
