About The Artist:
The recipient of the 2011 Haim Shiff Prize for figurative-Realist Art. Following the prize winning, she exhibited a solo exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum. In 2015 she exhibited another solo exhibition at Zemack Gallery in Tel Aviv. Akta Hildesheim was born and raised in Eilat and currently lives and works in Tel Aviv. She is a self-taught artist, with the exception of occasional painting classes (mostly with Meir Natif) where she was introduced to various aspects of the theory of colors. Her work, a harmony of gentle, transparent hues on an almost monochromatic
scale, is made up of repetitive lines and tiny paint spots that combine into complex images. Akta Hildesheim's series of paintings composed paintings of female clothing items perfectly captured and form a collection of visual symbols and female icons. Many times the garments are hanging on a rope or stapled with clothespins. Another series depicts female figures enveloped in transparent stretched cloths, their eyes are blindfolded with strips of fabric and they are feeling their way out. Another series describes paintings of women trapped in a box and struggling to break out. The figure's face remains invisible, and it's eyes are averted from the viewer.
