A leaf written on both its sides.
On the first page, Rabbi Avraham interprets the verse "Lecha Hashem Ha'Mamlacha… kol Tzva Ha'Shamayim Mishtachavim" and the sentence said at the beginning of the prayer "Et Shem Ha'El Ha'Melech Ha'Gadol Ha'Gibor Ve'Ha'Nora Kadosh Hu". He refers to additional sources in his commentary on the prayer.
There are textual variations between the printed version of Rabbi Avraham's commentary and the manuscript before us!
On the second page, manuscript by his son Rabbi Ya'akov Moshe of Slonim, "Copying of a manuscript by Rabbi Avraham the son of Rabbi Eliyahu of Vilnius that was written on the sheet of the Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim" (Siman 314-319).
On the right side of the manuscript, three columns with a list of the Simanim of the Shulchan Aruch which the glosses refer to.
The source of the leaf is a collection of manuscripts that belonged to Rabbi Ya'akov Moshe, most of them handwritten copying by Rabbi Ya'akov Moshe. (A list of these leaves appears in an article by Rabbi David Kaminstzki "Ketav Yad Kodsho shel Rabbeinu Hagra" which was printed in "Yeshurun", 16, pp. 738.)
Rabbi Avraham of Vilnius (1766-1809) was the beloved son of the Vilna Gaon. He was known a Torah and Kabbala genius. After the death of his father, he headed the "Kloiz Hagra" of Vilnius. He published his father's manuscripts and added important prefaces to them. His commentary was added in many of his father's books, titled "Be'er Avraham" (for example, in "Aderet Eliyahu"). He wrote books on the Torah and Kabbala. In his books, he quotes his father. Many of his writings remained as manuscripts since he and his descendants were occupied with publishing the books of the Vilna Gaon. His son was Rabbi Ya'akov Moshe Landau of Slonim, who continued to publish the books of his father and grandfather.
30x19cm. 23 lines handwritten by Rabbi Avraham.
Condition: Good. The leaf was artistically restored. No omission of text. The leaf has an impressive binding.
