A private bronze medal, issued to the Etze"l fighters to mark the 35th anniversary of the uprising against the British,
7 Shevat 5739 - 04.02.1979.
Diameter: 60 mm.
Condition; Very Good.
The declaration of rebellion by
the Irgun Zvai Leumi against the British was on February 1, 1944. At that time the German army was retreating, but it still controlled all of Europe. It was not until June that the Allies invaded Normandy and began liberating Europe. The Jews of Poland had already been exterminated, and only the Jews of Romania and Hungary had not yet been exterminated. The Etze"l decided that the time had come to declare a revolt against the British for refusing to help save Jews.
