WEISSMULLER JOHNNY: (1904-1984) American Actor, famous for his role as Tarzan in various movies. A rare vintage signed 8 x 10 photograph by Weissmuller, the image depicting the swimming champion in an indoor training pool, seated alongside two members of the Illinois Athletic club, Arne Borg and Ethel Lackie, all of them wearing their club swimsuits. Boldly signed in black ink (`Johnny Weissmuller«) across the image to a clear area. Overall age wear and creasing with upper edge slightly trimmed. About G £100-150 Weissmuller won five Olympic gold medals for swimming and one bronze medal for water polo in the 1920«s. He was the first man to swim the 100 meter freestyle under one minute, won fifty-two U.S. national championships, set more than sixty world freestyle and backstroke records and was undefeated in official competition for the entirety of his competitive career.
