HIMMLER HEINRICH: (1900-1945) German Nazi official of World War II, Reichsfuhrer of the SS. A very important D.S., H. Himmler, in green pencil, one page, [Berlin], 8th November 1936, in German. The partially printed document is entitled `Protocol of Adjuration«, and is related to SS-Obergruppenfuhrer Heinrich Schmauser as receiver of the law of blood and life of the Schutzstaffel, saying `The oath is taken and verified by handshaking with my person«. Signed by Himmler in his capacity as Reichsfuhrer. The oath states in part `I oblige myself as Gruppenfuhrer of the SS, with the utmost of my ability, that regardless of the individual person or of the merits of his parents and ancestors, only candidates who fulfill the strictest requirements of the SS can be accepted in the Schutzstaffel and I will defend this even if it is about the repudiation of my own children or the children of my family. Furthermore I obligate myself to watch that every year a quarter of the SS-candidates consist of men who aren't sons of SS soldiers.« further saying `I swear these liabilities with the loyalty to our leader Adolf Hitler and with the honor of my ancestors - so help me God.« With few binder holes to the left border, not affecting the text or signature. VG £600-900 The Schutzstaffel, also known as SS, was a paramilitary organization under Hitler and the Nazi party. It started being a small guard unit known as the Saal-Schutz made up of volunteers to provide security for party meetings. Himmler leaded the SS, 1929-45, growing from a small paramilitary formation to one of the most powerful organizations in Nazi Germany. The SS was the foremost agency of security, surveillance, and terror within Germany and German-occupied Europe. Ernst-Heinrich Schmauser (1890-1945) Nazi commander of the SS, and Higher Police leader in Breslau, upper Silesia. During the Rohm«s purge, Schmauser was the liaison officer between the SS and the army. He accompanied Eicke and Lippert to Stadelheim prison where he witnessed Rohm«s execution. Much of his time after 1942 was spent dealing with the logistical problems created by the immense mass killing operations taking place at Auschwitz which were under his jurisdiction. He was in charge of the liquidation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Schmauser was captured by Russians in 1945 and died in captivity.
