NARYSHKIN DMITRY: (1764-1838) Russian Prince. Married to Princess Marie Antonovna Naryshkin (1779-1854) while she was the mistress of Tsar Alexandre I. Marie gave birth to three children of the Emperor, only one reaching the age of 16 and recognized by Alexander I. Dmitry Naryshkin and his brother Alexander were rich aristocrats, close to Tsar Paul I and further Alexander I, and were known for her taste for luxury and for the excessiveness of their receptions in Saint Petersburg. Marie Naryshkin, a noble Polish Princess who was described as fascinating and charming, and called by Derzhavin as ''The Aspasia of the North''. Two unusual A.L.S., `D. Narichkin«, two pages each, 4to, April and September 1820, in French. The Prince thanks his correspondent for the layouts and building proposals he has received and entrust his refined taste, also referring to his wife and to St. Petersburg. To the second Naryshkin refers to the packing, shipping and taxes paid at Russian frontier for the magnificent and superb chandeliers sent by his wife together with few other art pieces.
