Jerusalem Coin Independence Day 1968, 20th anniversary of the State of Israel,
Six hundred and fifty-six times Jerusalem is mentioned in the Bible. Jerusalem The Holy City is a cornerstone of the Jewish experience - "If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, forget my right hand," Jews swore to Zion. "Discover Israel, Jerusalem was exiled with them," says the tractate Derech Eretz Zuta. During the 1900 years of exile, the yearning for "next year in Jerusalem" did not stop. After the War of Independence, Jerusalem was divided between Israel and Jordan for nineteen years. In the Six-Day War, the IDF liberated the quarters occupied by the enemy army, and Jerusalem was again one city under Israeli rule, the eternal capital of the state.
