Description of the coin: On the 5th of Iyar 5708, 1878 years after the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem by the Romans, and 51 years after the First Zionist Congress in Basel, under the leadership of the visionary of the Jewish state, Theodor Herzl, the People's Council, headed by David Ben-Gurion, announced "the establishment of a Jewish state in the Land of Israel, the State of Israel."
This declaration fulfilled the hopes of the Jews to return to the land of their forefathers and to renew their political, economic and cultural independence. For more than 60 years prior to its establishment, during the Ottoman rule and during the British Mandate period, tens of thousands of pioneers came to Eretz Yisrael from all the exiles to cultivate its land and to flourish its deserts, establishing colonies, kibbutzim and cities and from the small country of 650,000 to 4 million. "If you will - it is no dream," Herzl said, and here was the legend became fact.
