The Admor of Spinka-Zidichov Rabbi Alter Eliezer Kahane (1867-1969), an erudite man - a great genius and famous Torah scholar, was known for his prayers and leadership, for the service of God and the love of mankind. He was knowledgeable in many fields (Archaeology, Music, History, etc.), writing and editing books in halakha and in many areas, collecting and editing many topics in the "Otzar Ha-Posekim," headed by Kolleli Avrechim. He corresponded in halakhah with many rabbis. A man of outlook [wrote articles on Zionism and education] was close to the "Neturei Karta" circles and Satmar Hasidim, but was open to other views in Haredi circles. Much in the provision of charity to individuals and public institutions from all circles, and dealt in loans for needy people.
