Germany > Saxe-Gotha: lot x10 medals of portaits of Roman & Byzantine emperors with brief biographies (reverse) by Christian Wermuth & studio, struck in tin/ white metal, c.1694-1715; all on thick planchets; sizes bet. 31-32mm; weights: 10.6 - 17.2g; some with rim legend or numbers etched, or ink inventory marks; most VF-EF, one BU. Includes: Antoninus Pius, Antoninus, Severus Alexander, Magnus, Hadrian, Titus, Volusian. Part of a 214 medal series created by Wermuth and continued later by his students (Forrer v6, pg. 437/444).
