Esther Lurie ( June 24, 1913 - February 14, 1998 ) was an award-winning painter and stage designer and decorator . She won the Dizengoff Prize twice. In 1939 she traveled to Kovno to visit her sister and went through the Holocaust in the Kovno Ghetto and in the camps. Following the German occupation in June 1941 , while visiting her sister in Kovno, she was deported to the ghetto in the city. Her paintings were testimony to the actions of the Nazis in World War II .
