Set of 4 Victorian Shoe Spoon Warmers, Thomas Latham & Ernest Morton, Birmingham, England, Circa 1890.
Silver plated.
One with engraved presentation inscription - Inverkip Rovers L.T.C, Open Tournament, Second Prize Mixed Doubles, won by Miss J.C. Burns, Aug 1891.
These spoon warmers were presented to the runner ups of the mixed doubles tennis championship held in Inverkip Rovers LTC (lawn tennis club), it is very likely that each of them got a pair.
Although today it sounds strange, back in the 19th century tennis boots looked just like these (see attached image).
