Autograph from Rabbi Yisrael of Husiatyn
"
I must speak with his honor regarding an important communal matter..."
Letter from Rabbi Yisrael of Husiatyn dated the 14th of Iyar, 1942, addressed to Rabbi Shmuel Aharon Weber, secretary of the chief rabbis, requesting to meet in his home in order to discuss something of great importance.
Rabbi Yisrael Friedman (1858 – 1949) was the son of Rabbi Mordechai Shraga Feivish of Husiatyn, grandson of Rabbi Yisroel of Ruzhin. He succeeded his father's position in Husiatyn beginning in 1884 and served in that capacity until World War I whereupon he moved to Vienna. He immigrated to Eretz Yisrael in 1937. He was renowned as a prominent leader and earned respect from the great leaders of his time.
