Rare Long Letter from the Tzaddik Rabbi Shabsi Sheftel Weiss, Nagysimonyi 1926

Long, interesting letter from Rabbi Shabsi Sheftel Weiss, Av Beis Din of Shimoni, addressed to his teacher, Rabbi Moshe Yosef Hoffman of Puppa.

Completely handwritten and signed by Rabbi Sheftel in Nagysimonyi, 1926, the majority of the letter contains Torah novellae.

Rabbi Sheftel's remarkable regard for his rabbi is clearly evident in his heartfelt words: " I desire to see from the Admor's handwriting so that I know clearly that good had been done with the Admor… and G-d shall grant him health just as Moshe Rabbeinu was strengthened when he was eighty years old..."

At the end of his letter he writes: " And please… Honor me with your holy handwriting, and then I will make a seudas hoda’ah for myself that I have merited from G-d that the great Admor was made healthy…"

Rabbi Sheftel Weiss (1866 - 1944),  known by all as the "Shimoni Rav, " was recognized already in his youth for his great mastery of Talmud. Renowned as a miracle worker and baal ruach hakodesh, people flocked to him for blessings. Hungarian leaders of his time revered him as a prodigious scholar and credited him as a messenger to save the Jews through his great prayers and blessings.
