Letter from the 38th President of the United States Gerald Ford

Letter signed by the 38th President of the United States, Gerald Ford, January 2, 1980 [with a slight correction in his handwriting - at the beginning of the letter, the name of the addressee was printed 'copley' and ford change it to her personale name' Helen'].

Letter of thanks to Mrs. Helen Copley [American journalist] After the publication of her book 'THE CARLIFONIA TO REMEMBER', Ford apologizes that the book came to his office while he was on holiday with his family, and that he was waiting impatiently to read it. Ford's signature is on the sidelines.

Gerald Rudolf "Jerry" Ford Jr. [14 July 1913 - 26 December 2006] was the 38th President of the United States between August 1974 and January 1977. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of the United States for eight months, a post to which he was appointed by the President Richard Nixon after his predecessor, Spiro Agnew, resigned due to corruption. Ford was named president of the United States after President Richard Nixon resigned following Watergate. Ford is the only Vice President appointed to the position by virtue of the 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution and is the only person who has served as Vice President and President without being elected to these positions. Prior to his appointment as vice president, Ford served for twenty-five years as a representative of the Fifth District of Michigan in the United States House of Representatives. For the past nine years, Ford has been the minority leader in the House of Commons.

On the subject of the Israeli-Arab conflict, Ford faced the consequences of the Yom Kippur War. After protracted bargaining, an interim agreement was signed between Israel and Egypt and US aid was renewed for his efforts.
