Western Asiatic Neo Babylonian Cylinder Seal with Winged Quadrupeds
10th-8th century BC
A carnelian cylinder seal with carved mythical beasts; accompanied by a museum-quality impression, and a hand written and signed scholarly note issued by W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham 1970-1993, which states: 'Cylinder Seal of Carnelian, 25 x 10 mm. Two facing winged quadrupeds. Neo-Babylonian c. 1000-800 B.C. W.G. Lambert.' 6.24 grams, 26mm (1"). Very fine condition.

Property of a London gentleman; previously in the late Hassan Reyhani collection before 2000; acquired on the UK art market in the 1980s-early 1990s; thence by descent.
