Western Asiatic Late Akkadian Cylinder Seal with Two Registers
22nd-20th century BC
A lapis lazuli cylinder seal with geometric design; accompanied by a museum-quality impression, and a hand written and signed scholarly note issued by W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham 1970-1993, which states: 'Cylinder seal of lapis, 30.5 x 9 mm. pattern of looping bands in two registers tête-bêche, double ruling between. Late Akkadian, c. 2200-2000 B.C. Condition very good. W.G. Lambert.' 4.77 grams, 31mm (1 1/4"). Fine condition.

Property of a London gentleman; previously in the late Hassan Reyhani collection before 2000; acquired on the UK art market in the 1980s-early 1990s; thence by descent.
