Gandharan Figural Frieze Section with Buddha and Atlantes
2nd-4th century AD
A carved shist frieze fragment of curved section comprising a wreath rim supported by a seated Buddha and group of crouching Atlantes, wreath below supported by a panel of scrolled tendrils and leaves. 2.6 kg, 35cm wide (13 3/4"). Fair condition.

Property of a London collector, acquired early 1990s.
