Neoclassical Amulet with Sphinx Attacking Man
18th century AD
A banded agate rectangular bead with rounded edges, with a neoclassical image of a winged sphinx attacking a bearded man lying nude with right arm raised wielding a sword; two parallel piercings to the short edges. 25 grams, 43mm (1 3/4"). Fine condition.
Provenance
Formerly the property of a North London gentleman; formerly from an old collection, property of a London resident.
