GUS: (1911-1997) Gustave Erlich. French comic Cartoonist. Well remembered for his publications in French newspapers Le Figaro, Le Canard Enchainé, and many others. An excellent signed original watercolour, `Gus´, one page, oblong folio, n.p., 1st March 1982, in French. Gus has drawn a funny sketch showing Leonid Brezhnev holding a dog leash he has fixed around Wojciech Jaruzelski´s neck, inviting him to come in. VG £80-100
On 1st and 2nd March 1982, General Jaruzelski visited Moscow and met twice Brezhnev. The first reinforced his lead, defended the workers national political party and supported USSR international and foreign affairs positions, and the second agreed against financial support.
