TAPONIER ALEXANDRE CAMILLE: (1749-1831) French General. At the Storming of the Bastille, Taponier was Sergeant and he leaded the assault to the prison. A good A.L.S., `Taponier´, two pages, 4to, Platzberg, 7th September 1794, in French. The document being military orders given to the 34th Regiment of Infantry stating in part `It will be ordered that a patrol will be created for each of the 4 regiments, from the bridge to Cosel; these patrols, each one commanded by an officer, will browse the river shore and will arrest the soldiers trying to cross it..´ Overall age wear and foxing stains.
