Tiklal – Handwritten by the Genius Kabbalist Rabbi Yichyeh Bashiri One of the Greatest Sages of Yemen – [Rachva] Yemen, 1651

Siddur Tiklal handwritten by Rabbi Yichye Bashiri. With his commentary on the Passover Haggadah. It was most likely written in Rachva near San'a in Yemen, where he lived and was active. 1651.

[114] leaves. Written on both their sides. 29cm. The Tiklal is lacking and begins in the middle of Birkot HaShachar and ends in the middle of the chapter of "Shirot V'Tishbachot L'Inyan Shabbat" [most of the Tiklal is before us]. The complete Tiklal is vowelized with the upper punctuation, except for Pirkei Avot, Seder HaIbur and the versions of Ketubot and Shetarot. Except for the first leaves, practically all the Tiklal is nice orderly script. On leaf [100], a calendar beginning in 1651 and ending in 1682.

Footnotes:

Throughout the manuscript, footnotes: "Commentary" – including cantillation notes, commentary and excerpts of Yemenite customs. In addition, "Shulchan Aruch" – with the halachic rulings of Maran the Shulchan Aruch. Most of the glooses on the margins of the leaves were handwritten by the Mahari Bashari. There are also later additions.

Mori Yichyeh the son of Avraham Bashiri – one of the greatest sages and authors of the 17th century. Lived in Rachva, approx. 20 km. north to San'a. was considered one of the greatest sages of Yemen in the 17th century and one of the most important and well-known authors of Yemen. He copies compositions and authored several books. To many of the composition she copies, he added glosses and commentary of his own. His compositions "Chavatzelet HaSharon" on the shape of the letters according to the Kabbalah. "Even HaSharon" commentary on Sefer Aggadot HaTalmud. Te'amim V'Chidushim LaTorah. Commentary on the prayer book which also includes commentary on the Passover Haggadah. "Ein Mishpat" – references to the rambam. Glosses to Peirush HaMizrachi on the Chulin Tractate. The Maharitz, the greatest rabbi of Yemen, quotes him many times in his books. He most likely died in 1661. (Encyclopedia L'Chachmei Teiman, Gavra. Pp. 50-51).

Many flaws to the margins of the leaves, some of them with omission in text of various levels. All is professionally restored with paper. Thick leaves. New, decorated leather binding. Ink blurring in several places. Stains.

The script was identified by us as the handwriting of the Mahari Bashiri according to several of his manuscripts that appear in the National Library. See for example: manuscript Kovetz B'Kabbalah (listing no. 000104115).
