Collection of sketches and engravings (portraits of men and women), by Anne Neumann. [Palestine, ca. 1930s-1950s].
* Four portrait sketches (ink and graphite on paper). Signed by Neumann; one of them is dated 1936. * Three portrait engravings. Signed by Neumann. * Sketch for a logo of the "Prikah Ltd." Company, "Tel Aviv Port".
Enclosed: a postcard, with a handwritten letter, sent to Anne Neumann and Batya Lishanski from Munich, 1951.
The artist Anne (Annie) Neumann was born in Germany in 1906, studied painting in Berlin and immigrated to Palestine after the Nazi's rise to power in 1933. In Palestine she met the sculptor Batya Lishnaski and became her partner. Neumann focused on drawing and illustrating (among others, illustrated children's books) and her works were displayed in various exhibitions in Israel. She died in 1955 from cancer.
