The soccer team HaKoach Vienna arrived in Israel in January, 1925, for a series of show-games against the local teams.
This poster refers to a game against the best players of the Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel, on a field in the Talpiot neighborhood of Jerusalem, sponsored by the British commissioner who governed the Land on behalf of the Mandate government. The poster also indicates that the police orchestra will play at the game.
The Austrian sport team "HaKoach Vienna" was an ethnic team composed of Jews only. The club sent representatives to compete in all kinds of sports, but they especially excelled in swimming and soccer, reaching unprecedented sporting achievements and winning titles such as the Austrian League Championship.
The club was established in 1909 and called "HaKoach" as a direct continuation of, and influenced by Max Nordau's speech on "Muscular Judaism," with the goal of producing a new Judaism, to create a new an powerful diaspora Jewry that would be able to realize the Zionist dream.
