2- Mishnayot of Seder Kedoshim. Vilna-Horodna, 1818.

With commentaries: Bartenura, Tosefet Yom Tov, Tosafot Hadashim, and chiddushei Rabbi Levi Yitzhak of Berdichev. Before page 157 there is an engraving of the Temple, done by “Dov Be’er…” Printed by Menachem Mann and Simcha Zimmel. Signatures of ownership of Rabbi Yosef Bar Baruch of Wallerbleve. Light blue paper, partially disconnected binding. Stains. Moth damage.  2-157, 159-163 pages. 25cm. Generally decent condition.

3- Pri Chadash, copy of the Porat Yosef, on the Shas.

On Yoreh De’ah by Rabbi Hizkiyahu di Siloa, printed by Itzik bar Leib, Furth 1769. Page before the cover has the inscription: “This belongs to Rav Yosef of Vilna.” Rabbi Yosef Sakowitz (1815-1890) was a dayan and teacher in Vilna, author of glosses Porat Yosef on the Talmud Bavli that were printed in the Vilna Shas. Was nicknamed the Zaken HaHora’ah (elder educator), and would walk around wrapped in his tallit and teffilin all day. He was one of the only members of his generation to have his chiddushim printed in the Vilna Shas, and he was appointed to write one of only six endorsements for the Mishnah Berurah of the Chafetz Haim. Listings on the interior cover. Moth damage. 129 pages. 33cm. Generally decent condition.

4- Omer HaShkacha, First Edition—Koenigsberg, 1861. Glosses.

Omissions from the wording of the Talmud Bavli, by Rabbi Yeshaya Berlin. No publisher name. Last pages have two learned glosses, especially long, signed. Content not checked. Rabbi Yeshaya Fik Berlin (1725-1799) refused to be a part of the rabbinate, and only at age 75 agreed to serve as Rabbi of Breslau. Author of some of the most famous glosses on the Shas ever printed in volumes of masechtot.  Binding coming apart, stains. 18 pages. 33cm. Generally good condition.

5- Yeriyot Shlomo, First Edition—Dihrenport, 1784.

First section, an exegesis on synonyms and word games. With dedication and a vowelled poem. By Rav Shlomo Papenheim. Printed by Yehiel Michal Maya.

Rav Shlomo Pepenheim (1740-1814) was a dayan in Breslau, a linguist and Hebrew poet. While he was an ardent supporter of the Haskala, he strongly opposed religious reforms and the proposal by David Friedlander that education pass to the government’s control. Ancient signatures, stamps of the censor.

Missing the binding. Disconnected pages. Moth holes. 122 pages. 20cm. Decent condition.
