Rabbi Eliyahu Gutmacher - [1796-1874] Gaon, a Kabbalist, learned in his youth with Rabbi Akiva Eiger in Pozna and was known for his great elevation at an early age. One of the pioneers of Zionism and one of the first readers of agricultural settlement in Eretz Israel in the 19th century. From 1839 he began to serve as Rabbi of Graditz and soon became a special figure of a Hassidic Rebbe in Germany.
