Poster - Jerusalem's Municipal Elections, 1927 - Nashashibi
"Jewish Voters! Do not Trust Nashashibi". Azriel press, Jerusalem, [1927]. Hebrew.
An elections poster calling Jewish voters not to support Raghib Nashashibi in the municipal elections in Jerusalem (Nashashibi served as mayor during the years 1920-1934) since he "sold the matters of his people for a stew of lentils" and he "might sell your interests and cheat you".
The poster was printed on behalf of the Husayni family, a Palestinian-Arab respectable and wealthy family, whose sons held important positions in the political and religious leadership over the years, directed the supreme Muslim council, and were known for their militant views as far as Palestinian nationality and Zionism were concerned. The Nashashibi family, also a notable and influential Jerusalemite family, were considered leaders of an opposition to the supreme Muslim council and to the Husayni family.
