Yemin Moshe. Oil on Canvas by Yitzchak Pressburger
Large oil painting. The Yemin Moshe neighborhood of Jerusalem.
Yitzchak Pressburger (b. 1933) was born in Pressburg and was in Budapest for the duration of the Holocaust. He ascended to the Land of Israel on the immigrant ship Exodus in 1947. Pressburger studied at the Avni Institute and then continued his studies under well-known artists such as Marcel Janco and Isador Asheim. He immigrated to France in the 1960s and studied at the  École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts. He painted in the modernist style during his years in Paris. He became observant in the 1970s and returned to Israel in 1979. After ascending to Israel, he painted landscapes of Israel, primarily of Jerusalem.
Pressburger exhibited his work at the Israel Museum and was even privileged to have one of his works decorate the official greeting card of Teddy Kollek and the Israel Museum to world leaders for Rosh HaShanah 2000.
